Today was a great day for trail walking. Lisa suggested a route that parallels Onion Creek across from Jimmy Clay Golf Course and there were some delicate White Avens (Geum canadense) as ground cover and striking Red Buckeye (Aesculus pavia) in bloom. The large Prickly Pear just down the road from the fitness center has burst into flowers today. A Roadrunner kept just ahead of me as I descended into the bottom and I knew the walk was going to be promising from then on. Thank you, Lisa.
Here is the White Avens.
And here is the Red Buckeye.
Just one of many brand new Prickly Pear (Opuntia engelmannii) blooms.
Great pictures of a beautiful place. Thanks for sharing.
Bob, What beautiful site you have created, — and your pictures are wonderful. If you are the person named Bob that has sent me several comments on the Bamberger Ranch Journal, thank you. I’m delighted to see other sites that are doing what I’m trying to do, which is bringing the wonder of nature to everyone who is interested. Hopefully, our viewers will enjoy their own “outdoors” no matter where they are, as well as continuing to enjoy our “outdoors”. Thanks again for sharing your nearby park and the pleasure you take in being there.
Bob, Have you given up on your beautiful blog? I hope not. I’ve managed to continue the Bamberger Ranch Journal all summer, though I admit it is not as easy as in spring, especially when it’s hot and dry.
Let me know when and if you start up again. I’ll be looking forward to it.
I hope you are having a good summer.
